Yorecraft Company began in 1976 and has enjoyed varied art and craft based ventures throughout its history. The company incorporated in 2000 with managing partners Tom, Steve, and Judy. Tom, the creator of Yorecraft, has been involved in ceramics, willow furniture manufacturing, owned a pewter foundry, and in 1999, was commissioned to point up (enlarge to scale) a 48 inch tall bronze statue of Arnold Schwarzenegger. This was the birthplace of the products we are so excited about.

There was a need for something to shape the base structure of foam, hardboard and clay. The initial cuts were made with the scroll saw, but needed shaping and refining. The resulting invention filled all the needs of this project and countless others.

Yorecraft scrollsaw files are made using a tempered spring steel core and silicon carbide abrasive, one of the hardest commercially available materials. Silicon carbide is known for its high strength, exceptional abrasion and wear resistance.

Since its beginning, uses for Yorecraft scroll saw files and craft files continue to appear. Craftsmen have used them on turnings, carvings, models, gourd art, soapstone, ceramics, fretwork, hard and soft woods, and the list goes on.

Chock cherry and black locust turtle shell

13 pieces of chock cherry and 17 pieces of black locust were used in making this turtle shell. Yorecraft scrollsaw files were used to get a precise fit on each of the 30 total pieces.
